THERMOPLASTICS VACUUM FORMING
Prototype, short run and production capabilities are available.
Plastic Thermoforming (vacuum forming) is a process that can achieve the look and feel of Injection Molding, without the expensive tooling cost. Thermoforming can also be an alternative to sheet metal and fiberglass with lower unit cost, lighter weight and improved appearance and durability. We convert a variety of plastic sheet such as polyethylene, polypropylene Noryl®, Kydex®, ABS and PETG into finished or semi-finished goods and specialize in flame retardant material. We are an authorized distributor of Kydex® sheet and can fill sheet stock orders for any material. Contact Us to discuss how we can apply thermoforming to your business for improved quality of product and cost containment.
THE PLASTIC THERMOFORMING PROCESS
Plastic Thermoforming (vacuum forming) starts with a flat sheet of plastic. Our machinery is capable of using a sheet size up to .500" thick and up to 72" x 120" with deep draw capability. The flat sheet is mounted into clamps and loaded into an oven. Once heated the sheet is removed and positioned over or under the Forming Tool. When the heated sheet and tool are brought together a seal is formed and a combination of vacuum and pressure cause the hot sheet to form to the shape of the mold. The sheet is held in place until the cooling process is completed. The formed part is removed and ready for the trimming process and other Secondary Operations.
